My Favorite Plant-Based Cookbooks

For the first year and a half of our relationship, Blair and I were long-distance. He took a job in Richmond, a small city in Virginia about two hours from where I was living in DC. We made it a point to see each other almost every weekend and celebrated the time we spent together by eating at restaurants for nearly every meal. By the time Blair finally moved up here and we started living together, both of us felt pretty burnt out on going out to eat all the time (I mean, how many new restaurants do we really need to try?). We started experimenting more in our first kitchen together — admittedly, he did almost all of the cooking for the first year or two — and learned just how fun it was to spend time sourcing recipes and going grocery shopping. Over time I have come to love the weekly tradition of flipping through our cookbooks for inspiration and thought it would be fun to put together my tried and true cookbook staples that I can’t live without.

Green Kitchen Smoothies

As the very first food blog I ever followed, Green Kitchen Stories never disappoints, but I find their newest smoothie book to be extra special.

Nutrition Stripped

I love everything McKel posts and her cookbook makes whole-food cooking approachable for anyone and everyone that is willing to give it a try!

The Sprouted Kitchen

This is one of my go-to’s whenever we have people over for dinner. So many fun ideas for appetizers, unique salads and amazing desserts.

Everyday Raw Detox

I have an obsession with both Meredith Baird and Matthew Kenney so when they came out with this book together I nearly died of happiness. One of my very favorite smoothie recipes of all time comes from this book and it is the perfect summertime cookbook (think fresh salads, cold juices and smoothies).

My New Roots

There is only one cookbook in my kitchen that I have read cover to cover and this is it. Even my husband agrees it is the #1 resource for plant-based cooking. Do yourself a favor and buy this book!

The Love & Lemons Cookbook

I should start a Love and Lemons fan club with how many of Jeanine’s photos I have saved to my Pinterest boards. Her knack for hearty, plant-based dishes like tacos, pasta dishes and soups would make any carnivore forget they’re eating a vegan meal.

Have any other cookbooks that you can’t live without? I’m always looking to add to my collection!
